Thematic Specializations

We recognize that Arts and Sciences students will pursue leadership roles in an array of careers spanning many different professional environments, and so the curriculum requires that they select one of six thematic specializations.

Each specialization requires six courses (18 credit hours) in that specialization: three content courses (9 credit hours) and three skill courses (9 credit hours).

Senior Capstone

The three-credit-hour capstone seminar brings students together from across these specializations and requires them to complete a substantial and original research project that is aligned with their professional interests.

In addition to creating an exciting pedagogical environment conducive to theoretical learning about leadership and the open exchange of ideas, these seminars equip students with tangible evidence of their skills, a valuable asset as they make their way into the job market.

Portolio

In a highly interdisciplinary and flexible major such as this, it is crucial that students are able to connect the lessons they gather from their unique and diverse set of courses, as well as from the co-curricular experiences that they engage in throughout their time at Ohio State.

As such, students will engage in guided reflections beginning the day they declare the major, culminating in an e-portfolio that they will submit at the end of their degree.

Not only will this portfolio help students to better integrate their course work, it will allow them to craft a personal leadership narrative that will be invaluable as they enter the workforce.
